Casting calls are going on right now for Brighton Beach, a Jersey Shore type reality show featuring Russian-Americans!Brighton Beach is Brooklyn's Little Odessa with a very large Russian and Ukrainian population. Elina Miller is a co-creator saying the Russian community has its own set of characters which would be more interesting than the guidos and guidettes.
They have already received hundreds of online video applications via their website BrightonBeachShow.com.
Miller says they are looking for colorful characters like Snooki and The Situation, adding that it would be really funny if they got a Russian mail order bride! Ha! She says they want to have fun with the stereotypes, since they are already very used to being asked if they are in the mafia, always drink vodka, and get chased by bears!
A network to host the show has yet to be found, but I'm sure some channel will want to cash in and then more ethnicities are sure to jump on this bandwagon...
