Gotta Love Half Naked Russian Beauties!

Newest Russian Holiday, Unity Day

A controversial new Russian holiday was created only a few years ago in 2005. National Unity Day, also called People’s Unity Day, is celebrated on November 4th. There are several historical events surrounding this date, but some Russian citizens wonder about its true meaning and necessity, and choose to protest rather than celebrate.

It was in November of 1612 that Russian heroes Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky led Russian troops to victory by evicting Polish invaders from Moscow and ending the Time of Troubles. During this period of Russian history, there was no tsar or patriarch to guide the people. The remarkable way that all classes of Russian society worked together and fought the invasion was the basis for the name of the holiday.

There is also another significance to the date of November 4th in Russian history. It was this day in the year 1721 that the St. Petersburg Senate voted to grant Peter the Great the status of “Father of the Nation and the Emperor”, effectively creating the Russian Empire.

This new holiday replaced a November 7th holiday known during the communist era as the Day of the Great October Socialist Revolution, which honored the 1917 Bolshevik revolution and which was renamed Accord and Reconciliation Day after the fall of the Soviet Union. Many communists boycott the new November 4th holiday and still demonstrate and protest on November 7th.

Since Unity Day is only a few years young, not many Russians fully celebrate it. A movie titled 1612 was made in 2007 to raise awareness about the new holiday and explain the history behind it. The film is based on the historical events but does feature fantasy elements such as unicorns. Despite the promotional efforts, the average Russian citizen still does not understand why this new holiday was created, although I’m sure they enjoy the day off from work.

Russian Online Dating No Longer Taboo

Searching for a future Russian bride across the globe via the internet may sound strange to some, but actually it is very normal compared to other online dating sites out there. Studies have shown that international marriages between Western men and Russian and Ukrainian women do work well, but I'm not so sure about some of these other bizarre matchmaking sites.

There seems to be an online dating community for all types these days. There’s a myriad of animal lover sites from cats, dogs, reptiles, and even horses. There is also a site for fans of popular television shows and movies, like Star Trek and Star Wars. Many different lifestyles and professions are represented in the online dating world including doctors, bikers, farmers, environmentalists, and even vampires, or as they prefer to be called, gothic singles.

These unique, specialized dating sites are successful in tailoring the single user’s needs and narrowing down the selection, no matter how bizarre those needs are. Need a geek? There’s a site for that. How about a vegetarian? Yes, there’s a site for them too. Singles are showing they would rather search for love these ways. In fact, nearly a third of online singles said they prefer so-called niche dating sites, according to a survey by Jupiter Research.

Many of these weird sites have strategic matching methods, using questionnaires, personality tests, and compatibility charts. Are all of these calculations worthy of success, or are they mostly a waste of your time?

Many men have joined the Russian dating community and are very happy with the results. Russian dating is no longer taboo!

Russian Dating Online

Dating can be stressful, frustrating, and downright confusing. There are many delightful benefits of courting and dating hot Russian women online.

The Pleasures of the Chase
Much of the excitement of online dating lies in the search, the chase, and the anticipation of what will happen. Searching through the database of thousands of beautiful Russian and Ukrainian women is enough to delight any gentleman. Admiring the beauty and reading the profiles is intriguing and stimulating.

Logging On and Lighting Up Your Day
The selections have been made and the introduction emails have been sent. The gentlemen can hardly wait until their next log on. The anticipation abounds. Which favorite ladies have replied back? Which have sent invitations for chat? Have any new ladies sent introduction emails? Gentlemen members look forward to logging on because the interactions and personal connections brighten their day.

Learning about Russian Women and Culture
Another delight of Russian dating is learning about their background, culture, family, as well as their likes and dislikes. This makes relationship building interesting and rewarding. Gentlemen learn more about the history, people, traditions, and trends of Russia and Ukraine, as well as exchange details about their daily lives. Both the ladies and the gentlemen expand their knowledge and have fun doing it.

No Pressure to Propose
Some ladies seek friendship; others are searching for a boyfriend. Many do dream of becoming a bride. But none of the women expect a proposal. In fact, blurting out a marriage proposal too quickly may scare the woman you are courting, just like it would in the physical dating world. Focusing on creating meaningful connections, rather than thoughts of tying the knot, make this experience more enjoyable.

The primary goal of dating is to find your match. Some men like to choose quickly, while others wade through the dating pool for most of their lives. Abraham Lincoln once said, “With the catching ends the pleasure of the chase”, so take your time and revel in the delights of Russian dating.

Russian Music

Three Russian women form the musical group "Serebro" and have become one of Russia's most popular musical group!

Serebro's members are Elena Temnikova, Olga Seryabkina, and Anastasia Karpova... and they are super HOT of course! By the way, "serebro" means silver in Russian!

True Story of a Gentleman’s Journey for Love

Russian bride stories are prevalent these days, appearing on television shows and in magazine articles. Most focus on the Russian women, but one story published in Glamour Magazine shared the gentleman’s journey. With so much negativity and scandal presumed of the Russian dating industry, it is refreshing to hear a true tale of how men find love and happiness online.

Looking for Love
Music executive Steve Loeb had never considered looking for love online. He found himself in a slump around the fall of 2001 due to his father passing away and many of his friends moving out of New York City after 9/11. Two recent breakups added to his misery, one involving a divorce and the other a Dear John letter written on a garbage bag.

Wanting Something New
His attempts at dating were bleak and he wanted to do something completely different and exciting. Searching around online, he came across an online matchmaking service with connections to women in the former Soviet Union. He had heard of the “mail order bride” stereotypes and knew he didn’t want a “submissive foreign woman”. He decided to take the plunge and post his profile to see what would happen.

Finding a Match
A week passed and Steve was skimming through emails he had already received when a particular one made him pause. Most of the emails were roughly spelled and formatted, which was to be expected since many of the ladies were never formally trained in English. Lera’s email was a ray of sunshine into Steve’s gloomy world. Her words were well written and she sounded cheery and hopeful, exactly what Steve wanted and needed. His outlook on love and life transformed, looking forward to every email from Lera.

Traveling to Meet Her
It was love at first sight when Steve spotted Lera in the Borispol Airport in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, only 2 months later. He immediately felt the compatibility and the next 4 days were the most enjoyable and exciting days of his life. Exploring Kiev was an amazing adventure. With his Ukrainian background, the music, food and culture had a strange familiarity and he felt right at home. His 20 year age difference had concerned Steve at first, assuming people would stare or make snide remarks, but none of that occurred and they both felt completely at ease like giddy young lovers.

The Proposal
A month later, Steve and Lera took 2 more trips, to Warsaw and Budapest. On these trips, they became more intimate, with Steve confiding in her about his divorce and his father’s death. When he arrived back home, he wrote Lera an email simply stating, “Let’s do this. Let’s get married.”

Happily Ever After
Almost one year after they began exchanging emails, Steve and Lera were married in a simple civil ceremony in New York City Hall. Today they are still living happily together, with Steve saying he’s never stopped loving Lera since the moment he saw her and now loves her a hundred times more.

Successful matchmaking stories like this are happening everyday, although they are rarely heard. The media is quick to report the horror stories, of which most are misconceptions, in order to draw more viewers. Friendship, romance, love, and even marriage are possible and probable with Russian women online.
